My Only Friend's a Corpse is a horror/comedy hybrid that finds a very satisfying balance between these two things. While the absurd premise requires one to take a giant leap of faith, the narrative does a superb job holding your attention. An area where the narrative excels is its ability to surprise and never become predictable. At just under 70 minutes in length, the narrative moves briskly and never overstays its welcome.

Made on a very modest budget, My Only Friend's a Corpse exceeds expectations in most areas. When it comes to the kills, they never skimp on the gore, and the practical special effects hold up really well. The most surprising aspect of My Only Friend's a Corpse is the performances, which are overflowing with enthusiasm. Ultimately, My Only Friend's a Corpse is a fresh take on the zombie film that quickly draws you in and more importantly, it's always a lot of fun.

My Only Friend's a Corpse gets an excellent release from MVD Visual that comes with a solid audio/video presentation and informative extras. Recommended.
