Summary:
William Lustig, under the alias Billy Bagg, directed The Violation of Claudia and Hot Honey. He’s known for Maniac, Vigilante, Maniac Cop, and Relentless.
The Violation of Claudia: A bored bourgeois wife whose husband neglects her becomes a prostitute to fulfill her sexual desires.
For his directorial debut and his first foray into adult cinema, William Lustig delivers a film that often exceeds expectations. The Violation of Claudia’s premise is essentially an adult cinema repurposing of Belle de Jour. The protagonist is a sexually frustrated bourgeois housewife who looks elsewhere when her husband neglects her sexual needs. Throughout the film the protagonist helps those who pay fulfill their kinks, which include things like a food fetish related to sex and water sports.
The main attraction of The Violation of Claudia is Sharon Mitchell’s (Barbara Broadcast) portrayal of Claudia, a bored housewife who becomes an escort. She perfectly captures repressed desires and delivers what is arguably her best performance. The other performance of note is Jamie Gillis (Opening of Misty Beethoven) in the role of Kip, Claudia’s tennis coach who introduces her to the world of being a call girl. Although none of the performances are lacking, they all pale in comparison to Sharon Mitchell and Jamie Gillis.
From a production standpoint, The Violation of Claudia is a film that exceeds the sum of its parts. The well-executed narrative does an excellent job balancing exposition and carnal delights. Another strength of the narrative is how effectively it builds upon each moment, culminating with a jaw-dropping twist that blindsides the protagonists. The sex scenes are excellent and all but two of them feature Sharon Mitchell. Ultimately, The Violation of Claudia serves as a prime example of the quality that adult cinema's golden age can achieve when all elements align perfectly.
Hot Honey: A virgin experiences a sexual awakening after her sexually frustrated boyfriend dumps her.
Adult cinema has always relied on taboo subject matter, and Hot Honey features an incestuous relationship between siblings. That narrative revolves around a woman who's scared of sex, who then has a sexual awakening after losing her virginity. From that point, she engages in a series of sexual encounters with both men and women before reconciling with her boyfriend, now that she has gained greater sexual experience.
The cast has a few notable faces, like Jamie Gillis (Water Power), who portrays the protagonist's wheelchair-bound deviant brother; Serena (Afternoon Delights) in the role of the brother's nurse; and Herschel Savage (Young Like It Hot). Colleen Anderson (Skin-Flicks) is cast in the role of Honey, and she does a superb job portraying a character coming of age sexually.
Hot Honey is not as polished of a film as The Violation of Claudia; where the latter devoted time to exposition, the former is wall-to-wall sex with barely any dialogue. The sex scenes are packed with intensity, with Jamie Gillis' threesome with Serna and Colleen Anderson standing out as the most memorable. Ultimately, while Hot Honey is a well-crafted film, it follows a formulaic approach that prevents it from distinguishing itself from others in the genre.
Peekarama gives The Violation of Claudia + Hot Honey their best home media releases to date. Highly recommended.
